Netflix Is Eyeing Greta Gerwig to Direct ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ Films – RELEVANT

After years of waiting, it looks like Netflix is ready to head into the wardrobe.

According to What’s On Netflix, the streaming giant is looking to kick off The Chronicles of Narnia franchise with two movies (!) and they’re eyeing Greta Gerwig (!!) to direct both. No word yet on exactly which movies or books she’d tackle, but we’ll take what we can get at this point.

Back in 2018, Netflix announced it would be teaming up with The C.S. Lewis Company for a multi-year deal where they would develop both series and movies set in Narnia. A year later, Matthew Alrich, known for his work with Disney’s Coco, was tapped as the creative architect for the development.

Since then, we haven’t heard much until now. Netflix was reportedly looking for directors earlier this year, and it seems like they’ve found one. Gerwig has an impressive resume under her belt, with films like Lady Bird, Frances Ha and of course, Little Women. Her adaption of the beloved children’s book is all the proof we need that Gerwig can get the job done.
