The Internet is a wild place this week, thanks to all the chaos happening at Twitter — from countless fake verified brand and celebrity accounts (including Jesus—He’s back!) to mass layoffs and bankruptcy warnings.
And now rival social media site Tumblr has jumped into the fray. Tumblr staff is mocking Twitter’s botched roll-out of non-verified paid verification by offering their own superior option — TWO blue checkmarks for a one-time fee of $7.99.
“Important Blue Internet Checkmarks” are being sold on the Tumblr web store, which offers several other facetious features as well.
“That’s cheaper than some other places,” the listing reads, concluding with the words, “Why, you ask? Why not? Nothing matters! ¯_(ツ)_/¯.”
