In a superhero v. superhero showdown, Marvel has once again come out on top.
In its opening weekend, Marvel’s Wakanda Forever earned more than DC’s Black Adam did in its entire theatrical run. And tt wasn’t even close. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever pulled in $180 million in its domestic opening weekend, while Black Adam has pulled in only $151 million in the month it’s been in theaters.
This is not the first time the MCU has beaten out the DCEU at the box office, but it is a great example of how there really isn’t much of a competition between the two. Even with The Rock, who is arguably the biggest action movie star in the world right now leading Black Adam, it’s competing against a film backed by Marvel money, has a stacked cast led by Letitia Wright, and, above all, is dedicated to the late, beloved Chadwick Boseman.
Thankfully, The Rock holds no hard feelings in the showdown. He even congratulated the cast of Wakanda Forever over Twitter:
A huge congratulations to the entire #BlackPanther TEAM, @MarvelStudios @DisneyStudios
Biggest opening ever for the month of November
That’s a lot of happy movie goers around the world.
Beautiful!!! Can’t wait to see the movie.

The Rock has also shared that the DCEU is entering a new era with Black Adam and the MCU will kick off Phase Five in the new year, which means we’re in for another decade of seeing these superhero cinematic universes battling it out.
