Beloved friend, I have a question for you today. It’s a hard question, and here it is:

As an intercessor, you are accustomed to believing God for everyone else. It’s what you do. But can you believe Him for yourself too?

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

And do you remember as you pray for miracles in our great nation, to pray and believe God for miracles for yourself too?

One of the biggest pitfalls I have seen with intercessors is that we tend sometimes to get so involved in our intercessory call that we forget to simply be sons and daughters. It can be easy to pray for everyone else’s needs; other people’s needs sometimes feel so urgent. But in the midst of all that, it can also be easy to begin feeling like our Father has passed us by.

That is why I ask: Have you stopped believing God for yourself, letting  yourself and God’s love for you become lost in the battlefield of intercessory duty?

If you have forgotten that God wants to bless your socks off too …

If you have forgotten what it looks like to see daily miracles in your family, your job, your marriage, and your finances …

Then I feel led to remind you today that GOD LOVES YOU. Everything He has given us is because of His love, and in Christ you are entitled to know God in all that He is and to receive everything God has.

It’s all because God gave us Jesus, and He gave us Jesus because He loved us.

John 3:16 tells us that LOVE is the root of God’s giving:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV).

God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, before we knew Him or loved Him at all. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He loved us then and loves us still, and we are commanded to abide in His love. Remember this word too:

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love” (John 15:9–10 NKJV).

And because God loves you, He wants to bring you joy.

He wants to help you in every situation. He wants to lead you and guide you. He wants to bless your socks off every day, and He wants to give you absolutely everything your heart desires.

Luke says this:

“But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:31–32 NKJV).

And remember this:

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4–5 NKJV).

And this:

“The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted” (Proverbs 10:24 NKJV).

Yes, my friend. God wants to bless YOU.

There is a big difference between servitude and sonship. We serve God because we love Him, of course! But we have to remember that the basis of our relationship must always be LOVE. And in a two-way relationship built on love, both parties dote on one another.

So, yes: We are to ask God for everything we desire — not just the things that look “spiritual enough,” like nationwide revival, or praying for your pastors or children. Jesus said:

“Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).

We are to ask God for things that bring us joy. God gives us richly all things to enjoy, as it says in 1 Timothy:

“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17 NKJV).

God doesn’t just want to “use” you in intercession. Intercession is part of the love relationship, but God also wants to bless you.

So friend, I encourage you to examine yourself today. Are you abiding in Jesus’ love, together with all that His love entails? Or have you gotten into a place where you believe God for everyone else, but you do not believe Him for yourself? Have you gotten so caught up in doing His will in prayer that you forget that a relationship with YOU, His beloved child, IS His will?

Beloved, you are a child of God. God wants to bless you. As you walk the path of your intercessory journey, remember that all of God’s promises are YES and AMEN — for you, too.
