YouTube Christmas postings feature sing-a-long option, new words emphasizing peace, justice and care of the Earth

An Oregon widower, “Left Coast poet” Robert O’Sullivan, 81, of Brookings, has posted several YouTube Christmas offerings featuring his late wife’s music and watercolors, as well as new verses by him to traditional carols which emphasize peace, justice and care of the Earth.

Viewers can access “sing along with traditional carols,” some including new words, at: ProgressiveChristianity.org/resources/to-get-in-the-christmas-spirit.

The music includes selections from a CD of Alice Wildermuth O’Sullivan’s (1941-2020) own piano and bell arrangements of familiar carols augmented with words for easy sing-a-long synchronized lyrics, including new ones written by her husband of 51 years, Robert O’Sullivan.

A musical note on Alice: she originally started playing a keyboard with one hand and bell/percussive instruments with the other on Christmas music. She later developed the technique to “fast classics” such as “Bolero,” “Ritual Fire Dance,” “Malaguena” and “Bumble Boogie.”
