Holy Spirit Moves Charlotte Church Members to ‘Shout to the Lord’

Editor’s Note: The Gate Senior Pastor John Matthews begins speaking at the 42:41 mark on the video.

While it may not be continuous like the outpouring of the Asbury University, many churches, like The Gate in Charlotte, North Carolina, are experiencing a tremendous move of the Holy Spirit in recent days.

After 42 minutes of heart-felt worship to begin a service Friday night at the non-denominational church, Senior Pastor John Matthews declared, “as we were worship I kept hearing this … there is a scripture (Ezekiel 43:5) that says the glory of the Lord fills the temple. That word means to continually fill.

“As much as His glory is already in this room, there’s more. As I was worshipping just now, the Lord brought a scripture to my mind. It says in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, “the Lord will come down with a shout. In that shout there is freedom. People are going to be set free. For some of us, we need to try and not overthink or over pray it and just let God do it.

“When the King is in the room, it changes how you do things. Some of you have prayed for so long but I’ve got news for you. The King is in the room … He has shown up to deal with this stuff. He’s shown up to deal with pain, with heavy-heartedness. He’s shown up to deal with a virus, with disease, with letdown. He’s here. But I just feel like He said, “Shout to the Lord!

“We’re going to lift a shout that’s going to rumble the windows of the neighbors’ houses. … You can’t talk about the religious spirit but you can let Jesus push it out. Tonight we’re going to shout and things are going to happen.”

Church member Rachelle Harry posted this on Facebook during the live Friday service: Thank you, Jesus. Fire, fall down on everyone who sees this after the live! It was amazing.”

Diana Stewart posted on Facebook, “Lord hear the prayers of your people, we pray for your presence to flow like living waters and cleanse us, renew us. Restore your Glory, God upon those who love and honor you. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.

The video posted on YouTube also prompted another person, Kimberly Nyberg, to attend service at The Gate this weekend.
