In Orwell’s 1984, the Ministry of Truth is in charge of telling the lies. Chief among these? Lies that justify suddenly starting wars, or suddenly switching sides. Declaring that the foreign superpower you praised as your partner last week has been a villain all along — and is now an imminent threat, which we must risk everything to fight against and destroy.
Ironically, as Orwell’s Winston Smith realized, sometimes these “lies” were actually true. Atrocities by Big Brother’s allies which his regime had cheerfully covered up and denied suddenly turned into ammo, the moment the Party Line dictated a brand new war against that superpower.
Just so, the U.S. happily accepted the line that the slaughter of tens of thousands of Polish officers at the Katyn Forest was a crime of the Nazis — as long as we needed the Soviets to help us fight against them. But once the Cold War started, we were just as happy to admit the truth: that Stalin had ordered the butchery.
From Racist Conspiracy Theory to U.S. Government Policy
The Biden regime was as gung-ho as Orwell’s Ministry of Truth in suppressing the facts about the origin of COVID in the reckless “gain of function” research China conducted in Wuhan (with U.S. funding, via Anthony Fauci). Just two years ago it you were guilty of spreading “misinformation,” a “xenophobic conspiracy theory,” if you wondered aloud whether tinkering with weaponized viruses in a leaky lab just might explain … a weaponized virus appearing just down the street from the lab. (By that standard, we’d have to blame the toxic cloud over East Palestine on global warming.)
Jon Stewart lost thousands of fans by blurting out the truth too soon:
The WHO, the CDC, and the FBI colluded with the MSM and social media monopolies to censor, shame, dox, and professionally destroy distinguished doctors and researchers who raised inconvenient facts about COVID, including its origins. Dissidents such as Eric Metaxas, Naomi Wolf, and The Stream’s own John Zmirak got vilified and silenced.
That Was Then and This Is Now
Back then, Oceania was allied with Eastasia against Eurasia. (That is, the West was cozying up to China against the Russians.) So we had to blame COVID on “wet markets,” or sexually promiscuous bats, or some other “x-factor” that idn’tday entionmay inachay. The result was just as ludicrous as Basil Fawlty’s attempt to suck up to German tourists by “not mentioning … the War!”
But everything is totally different now. The world is changed, changed utterly, and a terrible candor is born. Now the totalitarian regime in China is no longer our partner in peace and progress, and son Hunter’s deep-pocketed business partner. Because now China has decided to side with Putin’s Russia over our meddling with Ukraine. (Just by the way, remember when Russia meddled with Cuba in 1962? John F. Kennedy was ready to storm that island as Putin stormed Ukraine. That’s what Great Powers do, and little countries suffer.)
And the Biden regime, in all its manifest expertise and wisdom, is doubling and tripling down on its decision to reject a negotiated peace in Ukraine that would rectify ethnic borders and save civilian lives. Instead it want to blast that country into a “quagmire” that will drain the blood of as many Russians as possible. So it’s flooding Ukraine with high-tech weapons and putting U.S. advisors within blast range of Russian targets. It may well have sabotaged the Nord Stream pipeline, to threaten our German allies with freezing to death in winter, as punishment for not sufficiently supporting our rush to conflict.
Time to Go to War Against Two-Thirds of the Planet
Now Eastasia (China) has decided to abandon Oceania (the U.S. and NATO) and side with Eurasia (Russia). So the Ministry of Truth has deemed it acceptable to admit all the obvious facts about COVID’s origin, which were Crimethink five minutes ago. Now the Wuhan lab leak theory is no longer just admissible; the U.S. government is asserting it as a fact.
Did new facts just emerge? Or was the Biden regime cynically lying to us all along, in service of Hunter’s business ties and Biden’s other Beijing links? But now it’s even more urgent to keep war going in Ukraine (and covering up for a different set of corrupt Biden, Inc., deals with other dirty oligarchs).
Indeed, expect the Biden gang to suddenly get red-pilled on a whole list of other issues. It will be shocked, shocked to discover that China is running concentration camps using Uyghur slave labor to make Nikes. That China’s government rakes in illicit millions on the black market selling human organs hacked out of the bodies of still-living prisoners of conscience. That China relies for its technological growth on mass theft of U.S. technology and intellectual property.
Should We Take the Bait?
For those of us who’ve been telling these unwelcome truths to a deaf, dumb, and blind Mainstream Media for years, it will prove a tempting moment. Should we take full advantage of the sudden “opening for truth” provided by a regime that’s ready to risk nuclear war against 2/3 of the planet? (You know, the way strategic genius Adolf Hitler thought it prudent to fight both the U.S. and Russia, along with the British Empire.)
It would boost our fundraising and public visibility, in the few brief weeks remaining for human life on earth … .
When we published The Race to Save Our Century back in 2014, we marked the anniversary of the build-up to World War I. We warned that all the genocidal follies of the 20th century might very well be repeated, but with vastly higher body counts thanks to nuclear and biological weapons.
We didn’t dream that the U.S. government would conspire for years to cover up the facts about a germ warfare experiment that killed many thousands of Americans, right up unto the moment when it was time to risk killing hundreds of millions with nukes.
Even we weren’t that paranoid.
