A new poll finds that most Americans believe that pharmaceutical companies and doctors should be held accountable for pushing sex-change drugs, such as puberty blockers, and body mutilating surgeries on children.
The poll, conducted by Summit Ministries in conjunction with McLaughlin & Associates, was released on Monday and centered on voter-sentiment on LGBT issues.
According to The Christian Post, about 65 percent of respondents described themselves as “concerned” when asked how they felt about “efforts to expose children to the transgender movement using things like drag shows, school curriculum, and social media.” Meanwhile, 37 percent contended that the push for LGBT ideology on children made them “very concerned or angry,” while another 27 percent said it made them “somewhat concerned or upset.”
Conversely, 29 percent of respondents stated they were “not concerned or upset” about the push for LGBT ideology on children, while 8 percent did not share their opinion.
The poll also found that 63 percent of Republicans said the efforts to push “the transgender movement” to children was something that made them “very concerned or angry.” Independents, however, were divided on the issue, with 34 percent feeling “very concerned or angry,” 28 percent who were “not concerned” or upset, and 26 percent who were “somewhat concerned or upset.”
Those polled were also asked if “pharmaceutical companies and doctors who promote puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for underage children seeking gender transition should be legally liable for any harmful side effects that arise.” In response, close to 6-in-10 respondents answered in the affirmative, including most conservatives (79 percent), people who voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election (77 percent), Republicans (72 percent), independents (59 percent) and moderates (53 percent).
“From TV to TikTok to drag shows and trans curriculum in schools, our children and grandchildren are being bombarded daily with the transgender ideology,” said Summit President Jeff Myers in a statement. “It doesn’t stop there — doctors are now routinely prescribing powerful drugs to kids as puberty blockers without [Food and Drug Administration] approval for such use. This polling shows that the American public is rightfully concerned, angry and want accountability for the targeting of kids.”
The Summit Ministries poll was conducted from Feb. 17-22, with 1,000 likely general election voters.
