NFL Superstar Leads 27 Maximum Security Inmates to Christ

Russell Wilson (Russell Wilson Facebook page)

As an NFL player, Russell Wilson has always been considered “dangerous” on the football field for his tremendous talent. Since he was drafted in 2012, he has been regarded as one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks of his time, having won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.

But much more than his prowess on the field, the Denver Broncos is threat to the enemy as a preacher of God’s Word. Satan’s dominion took a huge hit recently when Wilson and his wife, entertainer Ciara, visited maximum security Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami to minister and deliver the gospel to 300 inmates.

A total of 27 incarcerated men gave their lives to Christ, bringing many to tears.

Wilson read Scripture from Isaiah 43:18-19 to the inmates, a message that celebrates God’s forgiveness for their sins: “Do not remember the former things nor consider the former things of old. See, I will do a new thing, not it shall spring forth; shall you not be aware of it? I even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

In an Instagram post, one user said this about God, and about Wilson: “During worship inside of a maximum security prison, @dangerusswilson brought this incarcerated brother up to sing. … As the band began to sing Jireh (by Elevation Worship and Maverick City), he began to sing. … The whole room of 300 inmates was in shock when they heard his voice. You could feel the environment of the room change. The presence of God filled this prison chapel as these incarcerated men praised, worshipped and cheered. We will never be the same after this moment. God is working behind prison walls. Jesus still has a purpose and plan for each and every man in that room!

March CM CoverWilson reflected on his experience on Instagram with this post: “Lord there’s nothing better than YOU!!! Over 300 Maximum Prison Inmates worshipping Jesus! His Grace and Spirit is overwhelming in the midst of mistakes He still loves and forgives.

“‘For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him” (John 3:17, NIV).

Another user posted on Instagram about Wilson: “That man is a true worshipper and the anointing that resides on the inside of him, and it’s his time to let a sound from heaven come forth! I felt his anointing thru this video!”
