Forty-two years ago today, an assassin came within a fraction of an inch of killing President Ronald Reagan. Tonight we saw another attempted political assassination. This time, not with bullets, but with an indictment. This time it wasn’t by a deranged man obsessed with winning over an actress. We see a deranged Democratic machine obsessed with destroying the country’s political opposition leader.

And taking America down with it. John Hinckley didn’t come as close to striking the heart of democracy as the Soros-owned Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg has tonight.

Taking Their Shot … into the Darkness

Tonight, word was leaked that the nation’s 45^th President, the leading Republican contender in the 2024 election, Donald J. Trump has been indicted by a New York Grand Jury. For what? A private payment to a private party about a private matter before he was in office. A payment that lawyers and legal advisors to his chief accuser insist he did not know about. A payment that left the recipient owing him hundreds of thousands of dollars, after losing to him in court.

A payment which the Feds investigated and saw nothing. The FEC investigated and saw nothing. Bragg’s predecessor — a liberal, mind you — saw nothing. A payment Bragg himself had dismissed as a nothing burger.

That is, until the heat was put on him. Until the polls showed Trump gaining strength and Biden fading toward irrelevance. That is, we can only imagine, until the promissory note to George Soros came due.

That is, until that vow from Joe Biden came echoing loud and clear up I-95 to New York. “We just have to demonstrate that he will not take power if he does run, making sure he — under legitimate efforts of our Constitution — does not become the next president again.” 

Suddenly, by a legal conjuring trick that even liberal legal commentators find baffling, if not downright duplicitous, Trump is set to be charged as a criminal for something that has never been seen as criminal. As is famously said about Bragg, he turns felonies into misdemeanors and turns at best a campaign finance violation into a felony. The charge? Being Donald Trump.

John Hinckley had nothing personal against Ronald Reagan. He just wanted to impress actress Jodie Foster, whom he conflated with the character she’d played in Taxi Driver, which featured an assassination. This political assassination attempt is very personal. Bragg made it his campaign promise.

Forget the bodies piling up on his streets, the old ladies shoved onto subway tracks. The Democratic base, along with Never Trumpers, have made it their obsession. Blind to all sense of justice, proportion, propriety, due process, civil rights. Indifferent to any damage to home or country. A thirst for blood so unquenchable, they’d throw away the country … just as easily as they throw away Trump-supporting family and friends … if it means Trump is taken down.

The Line in the Sand, a Nation in the Balance

We are in dangerous, unchartered territory. Yes, on one hand, we can agree with Trump that he’ll beat Bragg. We can even say this clearly political pile of legal dung will actually boost Trump’s political fortunes. But for the first time in history an American president is getting indicted. For something that’s never been a crime before. You break through that wall, God only knows what beasts you will be unleashing.

What forms of payback, vengeance. How much further the nation will divide. How many more rights get chewed up and spit out. How many more political prosecutions will be launched for the purpose of maintaining power over the people. How many will be bleeding on the sidewalk, collateral damage to the attacks on Trump. How deep a descent into Third World dictatorship. How deep we will descend into madness.

Again, a nation’s — OUR NATION’S — political opposition leader has just been indicted on phantom charges by the ruling elite junta.

This is the bottom line. Regardless of your personal feelings toward Trump. Or political leanings. Do you believe what is happening is unjust? Dirty? Scary? Unseemly? A dark hour in our nation’s history? Flat out un-American? 

In so many ways, the United States of America is teetering between life and death. It’s fate in your hands.

Forty-two years ago today, Ronald Reagan looked up at his surgeon, bullet lodged near his heart. “I hope you are a Republican,” he joked. Replied the surgeon. “Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans.”

Tonight Donald Trump looks out from Mar-a-Lago, a high-caliber round lodged at the heart of our representative democracy. “I hope you are patriotic Americans.” Lord, may the response come from across the political spectrum, “Tonight, Mr. President, we are all patriotic Americans.”
