Kirk Cameron to Release New Kids Book, Pride Comes Before the Fall

Growing Pains actor, author and outspoken Christian Kirk Cameron is gearing up to release his next children’s book, Pride Comes Before the Fall, next month.

Cameron, who had been promoting his latest children’s book, As You Grow, at libraries, previewed his new book during an event at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, last weekend.

“This is a story called Pride Comes Before the Fall, and it’s a story of a tiger named Valor and his partner named Kevin. They need to learn the lesson of humility,” Cameron told the group of children and parents in attendance at the library event.

The book is set to release on June 1, the same day the LGBTQ+ community begins to celebrate “pride month.” The American Library Association (ALA) celebrates Rainbow Book Month in June.

According to the ALA, Rainbow Book Month is described as “a nationwide celebration of the authors and writings that reflect the lives and experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, genderqueer, queer, intersex, agender, and asexual community.”

According to The Christian Post, Pride Comes Before the Fall will be released by Brave Books, the conservative publishing company that also published Cameron’s first book, As You Grow, which discusses the fruits of the Spirit.

Last year, several public libraries refused to host Cameron’s book readings despite holding drag queen storybook hours.

“We will pass on having you run a program in our space,” Rochambeau Public Library, which is based in Providence, Rhode Island, told Brave Books at the time.

“We are a very queer-friendly library. Our messaging does not align,” the library added.

Some of the libraries that initially refused to host Cameron later changed course.

Last week, Brave Books announced on Twitter that Cameron is scheduled to host his storybook hour at Seattle Public Library on May 27.
