NYC Professor Shouts, Curses at Pro-Life Student Volunteers

A viral video shows a New York City professor shouting obscenities at student volunteers working at a pro-life information table.

In the video at Hunter College in Manhattan, Shellyne Rodriguez, an adjunct professor, throws and pushes items off their display table.

“You’re not educating s–t. This is f–king propaganda,” the art professor told the students at the table on May 2. “What are you going to do like anti-trans next?”

A student at the table apologized, but Rodriguez continued.

“This is bull—-, this is violent,” Rodriguez said. “You’re triggering my students.

“No, you’re not (sorry) because you can’t even have a f—ing baby. So you don’t even know what that is. Get this s— the f— out of here,” the professor said and then attempted to push items off the student’s table. “F— this s—.”

The video had received more than 500,000 views as of Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for the college said that Rodriguez does work for the college and that the school “takes this matter– and the right to free speech on campus– seriously,” the New York Post reports.

“Hunter does not tolerate such conduct by faculty,” a statement from the college said. “The Provost has completed an investigation, and the faculty member has been appropriately disciplined.”

“In addition, the faculty member has been warned that if the behavior reoccurs, there will be further consequences,” the statement concluded, according to CBN News.

The PSC Graduate Center, a labor union chapter representing CUNY professors and graduate assistants, released a statement in support of Rodriguez.

“Her actions to shut down the tabling were fully justified and are part of a long and celebrated CUNY legacy of confronting groups such as military recruiters who disseminate misleading information,” the group said in a letter of support.

The president of Students for Life of America, however, called the incident an “attack on student free speech.”

“Since the so-called ‘Summer of Rage,’ there has been an epidemic of attacks on student free speech, including at Hunter College. In fact, the number of such attacks tripled this year, according to a report we put together,” Hawkins said.

“Free speech rights you cannot use or are afraid to use don’t really exist. That’s why Students for Life of America keeps coming back to campus to protect the rights of pro-life students often living in hostile territory. And that’s why we often must engage our legal team, as these rights need to be defended,” she said.
