The Brew: Tucker Wants to Chat With Putin, Zelenskyy Wants You to Pay for Ukraine’s Election – The Stream

A glorious Tuesday to you!

Let’s get Brewing. (Better than stewing, eh?)

DeSantis Explains Hesitancy Over Debate Question About Trump

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has explained his much-maligned moment during last week’s debate where he seemed to look around before answering whether he would support Donald Trump in the general, even if he is convicted of a crime. The move made him look indecisive. DeSantis says the question wasn’t the problem. “I objected to doing the hand raise. And I thought most of the candidates seemed to agree with me. So I was like, “Are we really doing this?”

And yeah, that’s DeSantis at the “Field of Dreams” baseball field in Iowa. We’ll have to see whether DeSantis will “Go the distance.”

Report: Tucker Carlson Angling for Interview With Vladimir Putin

Tucker Carlson is in talks for an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian State TV boss Margarita Simonyan told Russian TV, according to Newsweek. Journalist Ian Miles Chong wonders – as do I – “What question should he ask?” (Send your suggestions to [email protected]. And don’t say, “Who’s more ripped, you or Bobby Kennedy, Jr.?”)

Tucker definitely must ask “Why do so many of your foes seem to have trouble with gravity? Falling out of windows, falling out of the sky … .”

The other big question: What will Carlson be called more? A “Putin puppet” or a “Putin apologist”?

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Ukraine-Russian War …

Huh? Volodymyr Zelenskyy Wants U.S. and West to Pay for Election?

Remember how we’re fighting to protect democracy in Ukraine? Seems Ukrainian President Zelenskyy doesn’t want to bother with an election … unless we pay for it. In an interview released Sunday, Zelenskyy says he told staunch Ukraine war supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham:

If the United States and Europe give us financial support… I’m sorry, I will not hold elections on credit, I will not take money from weapons and give it to elections either. But if you give me this financial support, if the parliamentarians realize that we need to do this, then let’s quickly change the legislation and, most importantly, let’s take risks together.

Zelenskyy puts peacetime tab he puts at $135 million, but doesn’t know how much more an election in wartime would cost. Wouldn’t be the first time the U.S. got involved in a Ukraine election. In 2014, Obama-Biden helped overthrow the Russia-supporting duly-elected president Vicktor Yanukovych.

Trump Trial Date for Election Challenging Efforts Set for March 4, 2024

Donald Trump’s federal trial over his crying foul about the 2020 election has been set for March 4, 2024 in Washington, DC. Why does that date sound familiar? That’s the day before Super Tuesday.

There are 52 Mondays in a year, and that’s the day Trump-disparaging, J6 prisoner hanging Judge Tanya Chutkan picks? Amazingly, just last week, Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis pushed for that very same day for the start of Trump’s trial down there … until Gov. Brian Kemp knocked that down. Isn’t that peculiar how two people sworn to administer justice blindly picked the very day that would do Trump the most political damage?

On the day before the biggest primary day of the year, the leading candidate in 2024 is going to have to spend it in a court where he’s charged by his opponent’s DOJ with complaining about how 2020 was rigged. And he’s the one charged with “election interference.”

Rocker Alice Cooper Loses His Stage Make-Up Sponsorship After Talking Sense About Transgender Ideology

Remember back in the day when rock-n-rollers would lose sponsorship over, oh, you know, driving a Rolls into a hotel swimming pool? Man, are we in a different world. Vampyr Cosmetics has cut its ties to rock icon Alice Cooper after he called the transgender craze a “fad.” Cooper was siding with fellow rock artists known for wearing make up on stage Paul Stanley of KISS and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister.

Cooper, a devout Christian, told Stereogum:

…I’m understanding that there are cases of transgender, but I’m afraid that it’s also a fad, and I’m afraid there’s a lot of people claiming to be this just because they want to be that. I find it wrong when you’ve got a six-year-old kid who has no idea. He just wants to play, and you’re confusing him [by] telling him, ‘Yeah, you’re a boy, but you could be a girl if you want to be.’

I think that’s so confusing to a kid. It’s even confusing to a teenager. You’re still trying to find your identity, and yet here’s this thing going on, saying, ‘Yeah, but you can be anything you want. You can be a cat if you want to be.’ I mean, if you identify as a tree … And I’m going, ‘Come on! What are we in, a Kurt Vonnegut novel?’ It’s so absurd, that it’s gone now to the women’s bathrooms.” Cooper went on to talk about the danger women face with biological men allowed to enter ladies rooms.

Yeah. Not exactly John Lennon saying “We’re more popular than Jesus.” Five years ago, the reaction would be “Well, duh, Alice.”

However, it’s 2023. Cooper was immediately dubbed transphobic, and dumped by the makeup company he’d been doing a product line with.

“In light of recent statements by Alice Cooper we will no longer be doing a makeup collaboration,” said Vampyre Cosmetics. “We stand with all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and believe everyone should have access to healthcare.”

We have more on the story here.

Transvestite Teacher With The Massive Prosthetic Breasts Returns to Canadian Classroom

Remember the transvestite high school teacher in Canada who started showing up in class with massive fake breasts? He’s set to return to class next month … at a middle school. Kerry Lemieux, who goes by Kayla — except when caught  in his neighborhood without his garish get-up — will be at a new school in Hamilton, Ontario. According to the Toronto Sun, parents of students have been warned.  Oh, not about a grown man showing up with a wig and massive prosthetic breasts, making a mockery of womanhood. No, the parents at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School were warned Lemieux’s presence might cause disturbances and protests.
