Be Prepared

Be Prepared is the motto for the Boy Scouts. When I was a youth I was in the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts. There I learned a lot about life skills on how to survive in the great outdoors. We learned to build fires, forage for food, and to be able to survive. We learned to cook, swim and fish, shoot bow and arrows, canoe, and apply first aid. They also taught us to respect God and our country, our community, and our earth. The Scouts were teaching me how to survive in the future by being prepared for things I would face in life.

I took the words to Be Prepared very seriously. I remember during my time in Scouts my preacher would preach about how one day the world would come to an end and that you needed to be prepared for that day. I did not understand all that he was saying about the Lord’s return, but I had learned that I needed to be prepared. So what I did was I got my backpack and filled it with all kinds of food, a first aid kit, matches a compass, and many other things I thought that I would need. I was going to Be Prepared for when the Lord returned because I was not sure of what was going to take place. Well, in my eyes I was prepared in many ways for something to happen but I was not prepared for the Lord’s return. See if you are going to be prepared for the Lord to return you must have a personal relationship with the Lord. Yes, the Scouts helped me learn many of life’s survival skills, but life’s survival skills are not going to be able to get you into heaven.

The more I listened to the preacher the more I started learning about how to be prepared for the Lord’s return. He was not talking about having a backpack filled with stuff to survive. He was talking about having Jesus Christ living in my heart. The more I listened to the preacher the more I started listening to God speaking to my heart. I understood that I did not want to be left behind when the Lord returned. I was a small youth when I asked Jesus Christ into my heart. I’m ashamed to say that several years of my Christian walk were not pleasing to God, and that is why I am so thankful for His Forgiveness, and the Grace and Mercy I have received during my life.

I have learned two great truths in life. A man must learn how to live for Christ so that he will also know how to die with Christ when that time comes. Too many people today are waiting on the big event of Christ Returning. When they need to be preparing their heart and lives for His Return. There is no second chance to get right with God after you die. That is why it is so important to Be Prepared before you die. People have to understand that God sends no one to hell. If you go to hell it is because you chose to go there, that you decided to reject Jesus Christ, live your life your way, and on your own terms. By doing this you were not willing to Be Prepared to go to heaven, so you chose hell instead. Now you see the people who chose to ask Jesus Christ to come into their hearts and lives were Preparing for their future and Christ’s Return. It’s your choice if you want to Be Prepared or not.
