Which Store Chains Will Close on Easter? – Intercessors for America

As we approach the holy day of our Lord’s resurrection, an increasing number of stores will be shutting their doors. Here’s a guide to which stores will be observing the holiday on March 31, and which will remain open.

Stores Closed on Resurrection Sunday

In reverence for Resurrection Sunday, several major U.S. store chains have chosen to honor the holiday, allowing their employees to spend the day in worship and fellowship with family and friends.

TJX, parent company of retail chains TJ MaxxMarshallsHomeGoods, and HomeSense, has confirmed that all its stores will be closed. This decision impacts shoppers at over 1,300 TJ Maxx stores and some 1,200 Marshalls stores across the country.

Warehouse chains Costco and Sam’s Club will also be observing the holiday, affecting customers of the 876 Costco stores and nearly 600 Sam’s Club locations.

Target announced that it will close over 1,900 of its U.S. stores. Similarly, Publix Super Markets, which has more than 1,400 stores, will also be closed.

Other chains observing the holy day include Macy’s department stores (515 locations) and H-E-B outlets.

In recent years, hardware store chain Lowe’s has also chosen to close its doors, a decision made to show appreciation for its frontline associates’ continued dedication to serving customers.

Stores Open on Resurrection Sunday

Several other stores will remain open.

Walmart, a major competitor of Target, will open at its regular hours, providing shoppers with a convenient option for any last-minute holiday purchases.

Home Depot, Lowe’s biggest competitor, will also open its doors for customers.

Other chains that will be open on Resurrection Sunday include Dollar GeneralKrogerMeijer, and Safeway.

Whole Foods Market stores will be open until 6 p.m.

Customers across the country will still be able to pick up prescriptions from CVSWalgreens, and Rite-Aid drugstores on the upcoming holiday.
