JK Rowling Challenges Scotland’s New Hate-Speech Law and Wins

British author J.K. Rowling went headfirst Monday in challenging Scotland’s draconian new hate-speech law. She dropped a series of posts on X affirming that women are women and men are not. Specifically, she featured 11 self-identified transgender criminals and activists.

The Harry Potter creator even expressed hopes she would be charged with breaking the new law.

However, Scottish police decided they didn’t want to take on Rowling. They said, “’We have received complaints in relation to the social media post. The comments are not assessed to be criminal and no further action will be taken.”

Rowling reacted to the ruling by writing, “I hope every woman in Scotland who wishes to speak up for the reality and importance of biological sex will be reassured by this announcement, and I trust that all women — irrespective of profile or financial means — will be treated equally under the law.’

And if someone who isn’t worth half the gold in London is charged for speaking freely when she wasn’t, Rowling vows to join them in court.

Jason Jones and John Zmirak teamed up earlier today to celebrate Rowling’s brave stand with “J.K. Rowling Faces Down the Demons and Wins. Go Ye Therefore and Do Likewise.”

NOW is No J.K. Rowling

Unlike Rowling, the National Organization of Women continues to betray women in the strangest ways. If you can imagine Alcoholics Anonymous sponsoring Beer Pong Night at a fraternity, the NAACP hosting a Klan rally, or domestic abuse hotline manned by O.J. Simpson, you’d be getting to close to what NOW did by giving a full-throated defense of biological males competing in women’s sporting events.

The group attacked swimmer Riley Gaines for leading a lawsuit against the NCAA for allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports, thus denying and endangering women. National NOW called that lawsuit “white supremacist patriarchy at work.”

So when a woman fights back against a white male invading her sport, she’s the example of “white supremacist patriarchy,” not the big white dude.  That’s 2024 for you.

Meanwhile, white patriarch Tony Evers, the Democratic governor of Wisconsin, has vetoed a bill that would prohibit men from competing in women’s sports, calling it an “anti-LGBTQ” bill. Except it is only a bill stopping the Ts from competing in sports where they would have a biological advantage over and pose a physical risk to girls (which, by the way, includes L and B girls).

Oregon Gains Some Sense, Recriminalizes Hard Drug Possession

It doesn’t take rocket science to know that if you decriminalize the possession of hard drugs, people are going to die. Yet in 2020 Oregon did just that, arguing it was the best way to attack addiction and “systems of oppression.” (Pause for eye roll.)

Nearly 60% of Oregon voters approved the measure, which took effect in February 2021.  As surely as night follows day, residents began dropping dead: Newsweek reported a 75% increase in overdose fatalities between 2020 and 2022, compared to only 18% nationally. Violent crime also jumped 17% in Oregon over that period.

Thankfully, Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek signed legislation Monday recriminalizing the possession of small amounts of hard drugs. But don’t expect her to admit the idea was foolish in the first place. (Oh, no, the idea’s great. The fault lies in the execution.)

“The state botched the implementation,” Kotek told The New York Times. “To decriminalize the use of drugs before you actually had the treatment services in place was obviously a huge mistake.” Sounds like the excuse that’s been given for communism failing everywhere it’s been tried: “They just didn’t do it right.”

Christian Visibility Day? Trump Vows to Create Holiday if Reelected

If Joe Biden is going to a “Transgender Day of Visibility,” why not have a “Christian Visibility Day”? During a campaign event Tuesday in Green Bay, Donald Trump vowed to create such a holiday in response to Biden’s recent Easter proclamation. More accurately, he was declaring that on this upcoming Election Day, Christians are going to make themselves heard.

“And what the h*** was Biden thinking when he declared Easter Sunday to be trans visibility day?” Trump asked. “Such total disrespect to Christians. And on Nov. 5, it is going to be called something else. You know, it’s going to be called Christian Visibility Day.”

We understand the gesture and impulse. But for the record, when you’re called by the Lord to be a shining city on a hill, an uncovered lantern, salt and light, every day is supposed to be Christian Visibility Day.

Trump will be hammered, of course, for his suggestion. Accused of wanting to create a theocracy. (These are strange times. Of all the titles and names Donald Trump’s been given over the decades, would anybody have ever though he’d be the “defender of Christianity”?)

Trump may soon get another name: “Airport.” Several House Republicans have proposed a bill to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after the former president. It’s not the craziest idea in the world. After all, we already have Reagan National Airport near D.C., George Bush International Airport in Houston, and the Bill & Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock. Oddly enough, the planes there only fly to Epstein Island. (We’re kidding, of course. … They only sometimes fly to Epstein Island.)
