An Aha Moment from Jesus

Parenting and teaching has given me multiple opportunities to explain the same thing over and over, even when the information was within reach of my children or my students. The payoff came when understanding flooded young faces.

I wonder at the patience Jesus showed when He said, These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with youthat everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled(Luke 24:44). For three years the disciples walked with Jesus, served with Him, and listened to Him teach. They hadnt grasped the basics.

He went further. Along with reteaching His disciples, Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. What an aha moment that must have been! They could grow from here. Jesus entrusted the Good News to them; their mandate was to take Jesus to the nations, beginning with Jerusalem.

After Jesus was carried to heaven, the disciples returned to Jerusalem. This time, they did not lock themselves in a room. Instead, Luke wrote, And they were continually in the temple praising God (Luke 24:53).

Challenge: Praise Godand learnwhen He opens your mind His Scripture.
