Stop Eating Spiritual Junk Food

“You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you” (Lev. 19:19, NKJV).

For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass” (Ezra 9:2).

At this juncture in history, we are experiencing such a mixture of doctrines and spirits. There are so many false prophets, false teachers and charlatans in the body of Christ. This is causing many to remain as children tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine (Eph. 4:14). Just because you’re hungry doesn’t mean you should feed on junk food.

For example, I’ve never witnessed so many claiming to be prophetic who are really pathetic. I’ve never witnessed so much of what’s called prophetic without any unction of the Holy Spirit present. Is it possible to be prophetic without knowing the Holy Spirit? That’s a strong statement, but I am witnessing it on a regular basis.

I was recently in a service and a so-called prophet came out and ministered to two individuals by a supposed word of knowledge and word of wisdom. I immediately sensed a strange spirit. It wasn’t the Holy Spirit, yet everyone clapped and rejoiced.

This happens consistently in the body of Christ. It breaks my heart at how many are being deceived this way because they are underdeveloped spiritually and lack discernment.

Be careful of money-motivated and stardom-motivated ministers. Just because they may even speak truth does not mean they are moving in love. Just because there is a demonstration of power doesn’t mean there is a motivation of love. God weighs our actions by the motive of the heart.

Be careful whom you follow. Your associations and connections help shape you into the person you are becoming. One bad ingredient in your spiritual diet can defile your spirit and ruin you for life.

I remember hearing a story about some young boys who were challenging each other to eat a certain bug. One boy finally dared to take a bite, and to make a long story short, this bug was poisonous, and the boy gradually became paralyzed from the neck down. Strange and false teachings can affect you the same way spiritually.

Follow proven ministers. Follow proven fathers. Follow the Lord in whom you are to be connected closely to spiritually. Most of all, follow your spirit and the anointing that every believer has received.

If your head tells you one thing and your heart (spirit) tells you another, follow your heart even when you don’t fully understand.

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” (1 John 2:27).

It’s not so important what any minister says, but what God (the anointing) says to you while the minister is speaking.

Connect and commit to local churches whose leaders know what they’re doing. Not everyone who speaks Christianese is spiritually developed. Popular doesn’t mean it’s God. Large crowds and a big following doesn’t always mean it’s God. The landscape in America is filled with false apostle, false prophets, false shepherds and false teachers who feed themselves more than they feed others.

Too many are serving up junk food in this hour. Too many are serving up a mixture of ingredients that make for a lousy meal.

Be not deceived.

Bert Farias’ books are forerunners to personal holiness, the move of God and the return of the Lord. They also combat the departure from the faith and the turning away from the truth we are seeing in our day. His recent five-book bundle, written under a fresh anointing, is a forerunner of what the Lord is doing in His church today.  His most-read books are Cleansing The Temple and The Tumultuous 2020s and Beyond.”
