GOP Lawmakers Push to Honor Trump with Congressional Gold Medal – American Faith

A group of House Republicans is pushing to award former President Donald Trump the Congressional Gold Medal, citing his leadership and impact on America’s global standing during his presidency.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is spearheading a congressional resolution to grant Trump this honor “in recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedication to strengthening America’s diplomatic relations,” according to legislative text obtained by Fox News Digital.

Luna’s effort is supported by six fellow House Republicans, including House GOP Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania, and Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Andy Ogles of Tennessee, Randy Weber of Texas, and Mike Waltz of Florida.

“President Trump’s fearless leadership reestablished America as a respected and admired global power,” Luna told Fox News Digital. “It is time we recognize a president who put our country first and secured global peace through bold diplomacy.”

The resolution is notably co-sponsored by House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good, R-Va., who had differences with some of Trump’s associates earlier this year but has since aligned strongly with the former president.

“President Trump did more in four years on behalf of the American people than any president in my lifetime,” Good remarked. “He secured our border, achieved historic peace in the Middle East, and implemented policies that helped our economy prosper.”

Reflecting on Trump’s tenure, Ogles praised his contributions to American heritage, while Weber asserted that “every patriotic American knows our country was unequivocally better off four years ago under his stewardship.”

The bill faces significant obstacles in the Democrat-controlled Senate, making its passage unlikely. Nonetheless, this effort underscores Trump’s continued influence within the Republican Party.

The Congressional Gold Medal, alongside the Presidential Medal of Freedom, represents the highest civilian awards in the United States.
