Honoring Israel in NYC – Intercessors for America

Reading Time: 2 minutes

At least three events in NYC have recently focused on celebrating Israel, and two of them bring awareness to the atrocities Hamas committed on October 7.

The Israel Day Parade

Since 1965 New Yorkers have gathered for The Israel Day Parade. CBS New York reported that this year’s parade on June 2 attracted 60,000.

JewishPress.com quoted Mayor Eric Adams during the event:

Our message is extremely clear – destroy Hamas. Bring home the hostages. The loudest is not the majority in this city. The majority of people support the Jewish community here, they support destroying and removing hate out of our city.

Because of tensions since the October 7 massacre, police officers showed up in droves, with orders to allow free speech but arrest any who stepped into the parade route. Except for a few pro-jihad protesters — including one holding a sign saying, “Kill hostages now” — the New York Post reported no arrests by the end of the parade.

Off-Broadway Play

Phelim McAleer, who staged the Off-Broadway play about abortionist Kermit Gosnell, is producing his newest play Off-Broadway, October 7: In Their Own Words, running through June 16. McAleer devised the script verbatim from interviews with those who experienced the atrocities on October 7.

Some from the IFA New York State Prayer Group gathered at the United Nations around the time the World Health Assembly was wrapping up. We prayed over that and several issues, putting a focus on Israel.

Nova Music Festival Exhibition

From there we went through the Nova Music Festival Exhibition on Wall Street. Organizers titled the installation “October 7 | 06:29am: The Moment Music Stood Still,” and they’ve extended its run through June 16. After walking through actual items from the festival — left behind by the 401 Jewish people Hamas murdered and the 44 taken captive — we gathered outside to pray for the Jewish people.
