Heat Wave Expected to Surpass Records Across Nation – American Faith

The heat wave plaguing most of the nation is expected to continue, and surpass past records.

An excessive heat warning was in effect for nearly 36 million people, or about 10% of the population, National Weather Service meteorologist Bryan Jackson said.

Areas in Northern California surpassed 110 degrees, while Las Vegas, Nevada reached a record breaking 115.

Raleigh, North Carolina, reached an all-time record high of 106 degrees over the weekend, with a heat index of 118.

“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” read a National Weather Service advisory. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”

A motorcyclist traveling with a pack of fellow riders died from heat exposure in Death Valley this week.

A second motorcyclist was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital for “severe heat illness” after the park hit 128 degrees at one point.
