The White House announced this weekend that Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, tested positive for COVID-19. 

The office of the Second Gentleman said that Emhoff tested positive on Saturday “after experiencing mild symptoms.”

“He is fully vaccinated and three times boosted,” the statement read. “He is currently asymptomatic, continuing to work remotely, and remaining away from others at home.”

Emhoff tested positive just a few days after spending the Fourth of July at the White House with his wife and President Joe Biden.

“Out of an abundance of caution, yesterday, the Vice President was tested for COVID-19,” the release added. “She tested negative and remains asymptomatic.”

In April 2022, Harris tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated and having received two booster shots.

Harris press secretary Kirsten Allen said in a statement at the same time that Harris was exhibiting no symptoms.

“Today, Vice President Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on rapid and PCR tests,” Allen said in the statement. “She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the Vice President’s residence.”

“She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules. She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative,” the statement added.
