5 Ways to Let God Fight Anxiety for Us

Anxiety is a common struggle. Even though we know that God doesn’t want us to worry, it can be challenging to fight worrisome thoughts. Worries enter our minds often as we deal with stress day by day. It’s easy to let those thoughts take root in our minds, leading us to feel anxious. We have to intentionally fight anxiety to get rid of it. Thankfully, we don’t have to combat anxiety in our limited strength. We can access God’s unlimited strength in the fight against anxiety.

In Matthew 6:33-34, Jesus promises that we won’t need to worry when we make our relationships with God our top priority: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” The more we trust God to help us fight anxiety, the more we can break free of worry. We can also experience true peace – the peace that only God can give us, which Jesus mentions in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
