President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, leading to him canceling an event with Latino civil rights group UnidosUS in Las Vegas.
“I was just on the phone with President Biden, and he shared his deep disappointment at not being able to join us this afternoon. The president has been at many events, as we all know, and he just tested positive for Covid,” CEO of UnidosUS Janet Murguia said. “So of course we understand that he needs to take the precautions that had been recommended, and we did not, obviously, want to put anybody at risk.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre released a statement on the matter: “Earlier today following his first event in Las Vegas, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19.”
She added that Biden has “mild symptoms” and will “self-isolate.”
According to Biden’s doctor, Biden developed “upper respiratory symptoms.”
The doctor similarly noted that Biden’s symptoms “remain mild.”
