Republicans Sue Biden Over Executive Order to Register 3.5 Million New Voters – American Faith

State and federal Republicans are suing to challenge President Biden’s executive order aimed at registering up to 3.5 million new voters before Election Day. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, along with Reps. Ronny Jackson and Beth Van Dune of Texas, accuse Biden of “weaponizing” federal agencies to benefit Democrats. The lawsuit, filed with the America First Policy Institute, claims the Biden administration is turning federal election agencies into a “Democratic turnout machine.”

LaRose stated, “The Biden Administration is once again weaponizing federal agencies, this time to steer taxpayer resources to liberal activist groups who want to sway the election.” The lawsuit, filed in Texas, targets Biden’s March 2021 executive order, arguing it misinterprets the National Voter Registration Act to register additional voters and mobilize them.

The lawsuit points out that the White House collaborated with left-wing groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center, ACLU, Demos, and Black Lives Matter to implement the order. Jackson criticized the administration for relying on “deep state loyalists to illegally register voters.”

The White House dismissed the lawsuit, with spokesperson Robyn Patterson stating, “These are baseless claims brought by the very people who spread debunked lies about the 2020 elections.” She added that the Biden-Harris Administration will continue to protect voting rights for all eligible Americans.

AFPI seeks a preliminary injunction to halt the order’s implementation until the lawsuit is resolved.
