Early Saturday morning, security officers at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland (JBSA) engaged multiple active shooters attempting to breach the main gate at the JBSA Chapman Training Annex.

The incident, which occurred around 4:30 a.m., involved an exchange of gunfire. San Antonio police were also present at the scene.

Officials have not provided details on casualties or the number of shooters involved but confirmed that the individuals were not known to have military connections.

Security officials have announced the main gate into the base is close and all traffic has been redirected.
