What’s Fueling ‘Climate Anxiety’ in Our Kids? – Intercessors for America

Reading Time: 2 minutes

For years now, IFA has openly called out the enemy’s attack on children. Satan seeks to kill children in the womb through abortion, to separate them from their parents and God-given identity through transgenderism, and to ruin children’s mental health through lies about the nation and the world. A recent article published by UK-based Future Net Zero (FNZ) highlights the sinister ways that the third strategy is being implemented.

In the article “Climate change sparks anxiety among children,” writer Garima Satija highlights the rise of anxiety in young children. Writing for FNZ, Satija references a Save the Children survey of 3000 children, “nearly 70%” struggle with “climate anxiety.” Satija, FNZ, Save the Children, and other green groups have used this data to call for climate-related action. Gwen Hines, Chief Executive of Save the Children, said, “Children should be excited about the future, but instead they are carrying the weight of huge global issues which they had no part in creating.”

These groups seem to lay the blame for this “climate anxiety” solely at the feet of the politicians.

At IFA, we know that much of what we hear about climate change is exaggerated or outright false. For example, we have reported on scientists who edited their research to fit the climate change narrative, as well as scientists who openly and directly challenged the very concept of a “climate emergency.” Perhaps the most insidious effect of these lies, however, is on the mental health of our children. As the FNZ article says, nearly 70% of children struggle with anxiety related to the climate. While the survey was taken in the UK, we can assume that a similar percentage of American children struggle with the same problem. One look at TikTok or any other popular social media will reveal that American teens are just as stressed about climate change as any other youth, if not more so.

With so many lies about the climate swirling about, perhaps it is not political inaction that is making children anxious and depressed. Maybe it is the 24/7 trumpeting of lies and climate alarmism that is terrifying our kids. The only question is, when will the lies and misinformation stop? And, as we wait for the record to be corrected, how many kids will suffer as a result of the lies?

Join us in praying that children in America and around the world will be protected from damaging political lies and narratives designed to incite rather than inform.
