(LifeSiteNews) — JD Vance is furious that the media is not holding Kamala Harris accountable for failing to get to the bottom of what happened during Donald Trump’s first assassination attempt in Butler County, Pennsylvania two months ago.
During a nearly 40-minute interview with Tucker Carlson this week, Vance said it is shocking that Harris is “totally uninterested” in pursuing and exposing the truth.
“Her political opponent nearly got killed and she has not used her government to actually investigate why or what security breakdowns led to him almost getting killed,” Vance exclaimed. “The media and everybody else should be really pissed off about this because she could be doing much more than she’s doing right now.”

After the failed attempt on Trump’s life, the Secret Service came under widespread criticism for allowing Thomas Matthew Crooks to fire several shots at Trump less than 150 yards on the roof of a building, one of which grazed Trump’s right ear. The agency’s incompetent director, Kimberly Cheatle, stepped down amid resounding, bipartisan pressure.
A second plot carried out by Ryan Wesley Routh while Trump was golfing last Saturday. Fortunately, it was foiled by federal agents, but not before Routh unloaded several rounds. Some Democrats and others in the mainstream media have blamed Trump and his campaign messaging for the attempts instead of accepting that their own absurd claim that he is a “threat to democracy” is at fault.
Vance told Carlson it is “bizarre” that no one know anything about Crooks’ motives. He also said neither he nor Trump trust Harris to do a fair investigation. He added that while it is “dark” to assume it was purposefully allowed, he doesn’t know why Harris hasn’t pursued the matter more.
“Is it incompetence? Is it that she doesn’t want to get to the bottom of it? Is it that if a story comes out that this guy was a left-wing radical, does it help Donald Trump? And so she wants to hide the motive? Look, there are so many different explanations here for what could be going on.”
Vance continued, “Do I think that we’re going to find out what actually happened … before the election? No, I don’t, because every incentive that exists in our government right now is to hide. It is to suppress. It is to lie about. It is to cover up various people’s failures. And because of that I just don’t think we’re going to learn a whole lot about it until November.”
The 2024 election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 5, which is 46 days away. Most polls seem to suggest that Harris has gained several points in recent weeks after her debate with Trump, with betting markets now being less optimistic about a Trump victory in November. At the same time, forecaster Nate Silver gives Trump more than 50% chance of winning the Electoral College.
