If you are ready to pray God’s Word over our nation today, let’s pray the following from Psalm chapter 3:

  1. Ask the Lord to be a shield for our entire nation, shielding us from the tricks and traps of the evil one.
  2. Pray that the Lord Himself would also be a shield to all who trust in Him, keeping and protecting them from harm, danger, malintent, loss, slander, lawfare, persecution, and any other evil threat or diabolical force.
  3. Pray for every righteous politician and leader in our nation, that the Lord would show Himself to be their Glory, and the Lifter of their head.
  4. Pray that the Lord would lift your own head, filling you with hope once again for our great nation!
  5. Petition the Lord to hear the cries of the righteous, and to move with the saving strength of His right hand on our behalf in this nation.
  6. Ask the Lord to give His people perfect peace and shalom, no matter what the outcome of any current event (such as elections). As the Lord protected the Israelites in the land of Goshen, so ask Him to protect the righteous who dwell in these United States of America.
  7. Pray that the Lord would fill every righteous person in the USA—especially politicians—with His perfect love which casts out fear.
  8. Pray that every believer, including those who work in government, would operate ONLY in God’s power, love, and the sound mind of Christ.
  9. Ask the Lord to strike all the enemies of the righteous on the cheekbone—and to strike them with His goodness, which leads men to repentance.
  10. Give Him thanks and praise, for salvation belongs to the Lord—and His blessing is upon us, no matter what the economy or the political realm would speak over us!

Based on Psalm 4, let us pray the following:

  1. Ask the Lord to purge the heart of every believer in America so that He can hear our prayers; for, if we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord will not hear.
  2. Ask the Lord to relieve His people in our distress; to intervene and give us godly and righteous leaders in every situation and office.
  3. Pray for an outpouring of God’s MERCY on America.
  4. Ask the Lord to shine the light of His presence on all His people like a spotlight, especially on those in government. Pray that it would be obvious that the righteous are set apart, and that it is God Himself who fights for us. Pray even that the wicked would fear the righteous in a godly and holy way!
  5. Pray that the Lord would shine the spotlight of His holy favor on all the righteous in America, both within government and outside its walls.
  6. Pray that the Lord would hinder and prohibit any violence from occurring in this tumultuous political season. Pray that there would be no riots, no looting, no shootings, no assassinations, and no other ungodly occurrences. Ask the Lord that, even if people are angry, that every emotion would be handled in a godly way—and that He would personally stand down the aggression of the wicked. (These things are based on God’s command to refrain from sin, even if we are angry.)
  7. Ask the Lord to pour out His comfort on every Christian in America, and to help us put our trust in Him—no matter what happens politically from day to day.
  8. Petition the Lord to lift up the light of His countenance upon us, His people. Pray that the light of His face would shine upon us all, and that He would give us favor!
  9. Ask Him to restore the joy of our salvation, and to uphold us with His generous Holy Spirit.
  10. Ask Him to restore even our gladness of heart, and to bring us good news about America.
  11. Pray that the Lord would help all of us, His people, to sleep well at night and trust Him in all things, abiding in safety every day, no matter what things look like on the outside.

Beloved, praying God’s Word line-by-line over our nation is one of the most effective ways we could ever pray.

As you pray through these simple directives from Psalm 3 and 4, follow the leading of the Lord if He brings additional Scriptures to your attention to also pray. If we Christians can gather and unify around the inerrant, infallible Word of God, we can see God do more in our nation than ever before!
