Five Ways to Foster True Freedom in your Community – Intercessors for America

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our communities are barraged with serious issues and unbiblical, ineffective proposed solutions. Our nation has an increasing need for righteous leaders in towns, counties, cities, states, and at the federal level. Pray about these five critical needs in your community that will affect the protection of religious freedom in our nation.

  1. Pray about our Culture (Proverbs 9:10-11)

Pray about the state of the culture in your community. Systemic problems—homelessness, crime, family breakdown—are often addressed with insufficient and misdirected actions. Popular progressive concerns such as climate change and caring for illegal immigrants are pulling funds and attention away from the core issues that are disintegrating our culture. Pray that the spirit of godlessness would be replaced with a spirit of hope in and fear of the Lord.

  1. Pray about our Laws (Romans 13)

New laws in many communities today are normalizing sin as old laws are ignored, which is promoting lawlessness. Instead of creating and upholding order through laws, laws are allowing harmful things, decriminalizing theft, drug usage, and immigration, but penalizing relatively unimportant things, like the use of straws. Pray for judges, law enforcement, and legislators to boldly uphold law and order in our communities.

  1. Pray about our Schools (Psalm 119:9)

The National Education Association is promoting LGBTQ- oriented curriculum to be integrated into nearly every subject in public schools. Who will stand in the gap for the children, fighting against the wickedness in our schools and culture, to return a generation to godly instruction? Ask the Lord, “How can I support the Christian teachers and administrators in my town? Is God calling me to participate on my school board, in my school, or prayer walk around schools? How can I speak out for righteousness?”

  1. Pray about Righteous Leaders (Isaiah 6:8)

We need Christians who will listen for God’s voice when He calls to stand in the gap as a public servant, bringing godly values to governance. Ask the Lord, “Are You calling me to serve? How can I support someone who is called by God to lead in my community? Pray that God would raise up warriors who will lead in these difficult times.

  1. Pray about our Religious Freedom (2 Corinthians 3:12)

The stifling of free speech and religious freedom in our nation enables and advances progressive and wicked plans. Pastors, counselors, teachers, and even parents are restricted from communicating biblical principles to congregations, patients, students, and their own children. Pray for boldness for the body of Christ to combine prayer with action. How can you stand up for religious freedom in your community: your local government, your place of work, your children’s school, in local elections?

How is God speaking to you as you pray?
