Detroit School District Closed Due to Student Threat – American Faith

When a threat was reported in the River Rouge School District, authorities quickly took action to ensure the safety of the community. Police believe they have identified the student responsible, but the district decided to shut down operations as a precaution.

River Rouge Police Director Sotirios Arapakis emphasized that the community is not currently in danger but confirmed the investigation remains active. “We’re seeking charges against the individual that made this threat,” Arapakis stated, while withholding specific details about the nature of the threat. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department is assisting with the investigation.

“Our top priority is the safety of the community, students, and faculty. Any threat made is taken very seriously,” Arapakis added.

The district immediately sent a letter to parents, urging them to talk to their children about the consequences of making threats. The district emphasized the importance of understanding the gravity of such actions and the legal and safety concerns they create.

“We have informed River Rouge Police and the Wayne County Prosecutors Office that we believe these are acts of terrorism that can cause psychological damage to people because of what is happening in schools across the country. We apologize for any inconvenience closing of school may cause and please understand we will be employing additional safety protocols to make certain that students are protected and conducting business as normal,” the letter read.
