Trump Deportation Flights Resumed, Illinois Pushes ‘Know-Your-Rights’ Campaign – American Faith

The Trump administration has resumed deportation flights as part of its immigration enforcement strategy, according to a statement from the White House on Friday. President Donald Trump vowed to act decisively against illegal immigration, sending what he described as a “strong and clear message” that unlawful entry into the United States will result in severe consequences.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported more than 530 arrests and 373 detainers within three days of Trump taking office on January 20. Deportation flights, halted under the Biden administration, have already begun, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. ICE encourages the public to report information on foreign fugitives through its tip line or online platform.

Illinois, a state with sanctuary policies, is responding with its own measures. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a statewide “know-your-rights” campaign aimed at informing illegal immigrants about how to handle potential encounters with immigration agents. Pritzker emphasized that state agencies are actively disseminating information to parents and families in immigrant communities.

“Making sure people know what they should do if an agent shows up and asks them for proof of citizenship and proof of residency,” Pritzker said during a press event Friday. He clarified that while he supports the deportation of violent criminal offenders, he is committed to protecting nonviolent individuals living in the state without legal status. Pritzker stated, “I’m unafraid… I’m going to protect the people of Illinois.”

The contrast between federal and state policies has drawn sharp reactions. U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) praised Trump’s swift action, declaring, “Every illegal alien in the United States must be deported. Americans deserve to be safe in our country.” She also thanked Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan for securing communities.

ICE, with a workforce of over 7,700 personnel, continues to focus on identifying and deporting foreign fugitives. The agency encourages the public to provide information about illegal activities through its hotline and online tip system.
