Ukrainian Drones Strike Major Russian Oil Refinery Again – American Faith

Ukrainian long-range drones struck one of Russia’s largest oil refineries for the second time in three days, a senior Kyiv official confirmed Monday. The attack targeted a refinery in the Volgograd region, one of Russia’s top ten refining facilities, which processes nearly 6% of the country’s oil. The strike is part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to weaken Russia’s military capabilities as the third anniversary of the war approaches.

Russian authorities acknowledged a brief fire at the Volgograd refinery during the drone attack but provided limited details. The same refinery was previously attacked on Friday, with Ukrainian officials confirming the strike but withholding additional information.

Ukraine’s growing domestic arms industry has developed drones capable of carrying larger payloads over extended distances. This technological advancement has allowed Ukraine to conduct operations deep within Russian territory, disrupting key infrastructure sites.

Sunday night’s drone attacks also targeted a major natural gas processing plant in Russia’s Astrakhan region, located approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles) from Ukraine. According to a Ukrainian security service official, this marks the fifth successful long-range operation against Russian infrastructure this year.

The Russian military reported the destruction of 70 Ukrainian drones across six Russian regions overnight. The targeted areas included Volgograd, Astrakhan, and border regions such as Belgorod, Kursk, and Voronezh. The attacks prompted Russian authorities to temporarily suspend flights in and out of nine airports across different regions.

Ukraine’s strategy aims to slow Russia’s ongoing military push in Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland. Russian forces have maintained a monthslong offensive to secure additional territory ahead of potential peace negotiations influenced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
