Colorado Voters Shift Away from Democrat Party – American Faith

A new poll indicates that support for the Democrat Party is waning in Colorado as immigration and the economy remain top concerns among voters. The Colorado Issues Poll, conducted by One Main Street Colorado, found that 30% of respondents identified the economy and cost of living as their most important Election Day issue, while 24% cited inflation.

Republicans drove these numbers, with 51% of Trump supporters prioritizing the economy and 53% focusing on immigration. In contrast, only 12% of Kamala Harris supporters named the economy as their top concern, and just 4% listed immigration. Among Democrats, key issues included opposition to Trump, abortion rights, integrity, and democracy.

The poll further examined how voters perceive the Democrat Party at both state and national levels. A majority of those surveyed indicated that Republicans have been more effective in addressing inflation, the cost of living, and middle-class representation. Additionally, 24% of voters attributed Democratic losses on Election Day to the party being “out of touch” with constituents, with 27% of Harris supporters citing “poor messaging” as a significant factor.

Voters expressed a strong desire for Democrats to focus on economic issues, with 72% emphasizing the need to acknowledge concerns around immigration, taxation, and the cost of living. Only 14% of voters felt that the Democrat Party should shift further left, while 27% preferred a move to the right, and 51% advocated for bridging the political divide.

Although Democrats currently control the Colorado state government, 51% of voters in the poll viewed the Colorado Democratic Party unfavorably. Notably, the 2024 General Election marked the first time in a decade that Republicans gained seats in the Colorado state House instead of losing them.

Voters encouraged state Democrats to prioritize policies that reduce financial burdens on families and small businesses while fostering opportunities for good-paying jobs and long-term economic growth. Issues such as rent controls, free healthcare, and a minimum basic income—often championed by Democratic politicians—were not among the preferred priorities for most respondents.

The poll surveyed 1,225 active voters in Colorado and had a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.
