Far-left New York Attorney General Letitia James is once again targeting President Donald Trump. On Monday, she directed hospitals to defy Trump’s newly signed Executive Order prohibiting sex-change procedures for minors, arguing that such a prohibition violates New York State law.
Last week, President Trump signed the Executive Order titled “Protecting Children From Chemical And Surgical Mutilation” in response to the increasing number of minors undergoing irreversible medical interventions. The order explicitly states that the federal government will not “fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another.”
James has a history of opposing Trump’s policies. Previously, she joined other Democrat attorneys general in a lawsuit to block Trump’s federal funding freeze. Her latest directive continues this pattern, as she instructs hospitals to disregard Trump’s protections for minors.
New York Attorney General Letitia James warned hospitals that following Trump’s executive order would violate state law, reinforcing her opposition to the measure. The order seeks to halt both chemical and surgical sex-change procedures for children, which the Trump administration characterizes as dangerous and irreversible.
“Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” the executive order states. “This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”
Letitia James has long vowed to pursue legal challenges against Trump. Following his decisive presidential election victory, James reaffirmed her commitment to countering his administration’s policies, stating that her office had already developed contingency plans.
“So here we are. We’ve studied their platforms. We’ve identified certain possibilities, fact patterns. We’ve created contingency plans,” she declared. “So no matter what the next administration throws at us, we are ready. We are ready to respond to their attacks.”
After aggressively prosecuting Trump with a civil fraud case, James accused the former president of being the one seeking revenge. Despite her repeated legal challenges against Trump, James continues to position herself as a “guardian of the law.”
“This is not the time to be fearful, New York. But faithful. And steadfast. Knowing that I as the attorney general, along with my entire team, we are guardians of the law. And we are prepared, my friends, to fight back,” she stated.
