Texas Authorities Seize 350 Pounds of Meth, Arrest Three Illegals

A multi-agency task force in Texas intercepted a major drug trafficking operation in Plum Grove, leading to the arrest of three previously deported illegal aliens and the seizure of nearly 350 pounds of meth.

Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader announced the bust in a Facebook post, detailing how his narcotics unit collaborated with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Houston Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The enforcement action took place on February 12, when officers conducted a targeted traffic stop on a white panel van.

The driver, Gerson Lopez Zuniga, and passengers, Gruz Isidro Sandoval and Adan Aguirre Arzate, were all found to be illegally present in the U.S. and residing in Liberty County. Investigators also discovered Zuniga was illegally in possession of a semi-automatic handgun.

A further tip led officers to search a nearby camper trailer, where they uncovered 12 iceberg lettuce boxes concealing approximately 344 pounds of methamphetamine.

Background checks revealed that all three suspects had previously been deported at least four times. The case underscores the ongoing challenges of border security and drug enforcement in Texas.

Earlier this month, American Faith reported that nearly 300 pounds of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine were seized at Customs and Border (CBP) checkpoints in one week.

291 pounds of drugs were confiscated by CBP agents near El Paso between January 16-23.

18.56 pounds of powdered fentanyl and 63.8 pounds of methamphetamine were discovered on January 16, followed by 29.18 pounds of cocaine being found during a vehicle search on January 18.

Another 23 pounds of cocaine was discovered at the Marcelino Port of entry on January 20. Almost 101 pounds of marijuana was discovered that same day at the Ysleta port.

On January 23, offers seized 55.55 pounds of methamphetamine at the Columbus port in New Mexico.
