Upon being told to retake his seat by Speaker Johnson, Rep. Green continued to stand and shout at President Trump in protest while shaking his cane in the air.
Johnson again repeated his warning to Green, stating: “Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of the quorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session. Mr. Green, take your seat. Take your seat, sir. Take your seat.”

After ignoring several warnings, Johnson called for Green’s removal from the House Chamber.
“Finding that members continue to engage in willful and concert a disruption of proper decorum, the chair now directs the sergeant at arms to restore order. Remove this gentleman from the chamber,” Johnson stated.
Rep. Green, who has represented Texas’s 9th congressional district since 2005, is known for his advocacy on healthcare issues and has previously introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump.
After being escorted out, Green commented to reporters saying his outburst was the only way to “get across to a person who uses his incivility against our civility.” He went on to add that his removal from the joint session was worth calling out Trump and his “desire to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”
