Democratic strategist James Carville admitted Friday that President Joe Biden’s immigration policies were a disaster, blaming the “idiotic far-left” for pushing open-border policies that led to record-breaking illegal crossings.

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Carville criticized Biden for listening to radical leftists instead of enforcing border security. “By the time that he left office, the border was a very orderly place,” Carville said, referencing Trump’s successful crackdown. “But it’s really true if you look at the crossing statistics. Every person in history that has listened to the far-left… has lived to regret it.”

Under Biden, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported over 2.4 million illegal migrant encounters in 2023 and 2.1 million in 2024. In December 2023 alone, more than 300,000 migrants crossed the southern border—an all-time record. Meanwhile, violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, including the murders of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin, intensified public outcry.

Polls indicate that immigration was a decisive issue in the 2024 election. A survey from August 2024 found that 50% of Americans view mass migration as a “critical threat” to national security, and most support mass deportations and military enforcement at the border.

Trump’s return to office in January 2025 marked an immediate turnaround. Border crossings plummeted, with only 8,326 apprehensions reported in his first full month—compared to hundreds of thousands under Biden. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem reported just 200 crossings on Feb. 22, the lowest single-day total in over 15 years.

Despite Democrats claiming border security required congressional action, the Trump administration enacted sweeping reforms without new legislation. ICE arrests have surged by 627% since Trump took office, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration law.
