Thank You So Much

We are all looking forward to warmer weather. Because of the flooding and damage by Hurricane Helene and a very cold winter, the past few months have been a challenge. Had it not been for Helene it would have been a normal winter. But Helene added a difficult challenge to our mountain communities.
Many roads including the road I live on are damaged and need repair. Many culverts and bridges are still impassable. Many roofs still need to be fixed, and basements remodeled. Drinkable water is still an issue in some areas and damaged sewer systems still need repair. And many homes still need to be rebuilt.
But behind every dark cloud, there is a silver lining. God has provided many resources and a lot of good people to help us restore what Helene has damaged. There is still a lot of work to be done, and a lot of work has been carried out. So many supplies and household goods generously came into our area by plane, helicopters, and trucks that our distribution centers and churches were overwhelmed with supplies. We had so much at Snow Hill that we had to turn away some donations because we had run out of places to store them. I still see water packed up by the truckloads just sitting out beside buildings.
I had not planned to become a church distribution center, but God had other plans. Phone calls and texts started coming in and the supplies started coming in by the truck and trailer loads. Seasoned firewood came in by more than fifty dump trailer loads from South Carolina. A church came and provided a meal for us and many food trailers were preparing and serving food throughout our communities. Many churches were providing meals for free. And God blessed our church with large monetary gifts that have helped a lot of people. Thank you so much for your generosity. I assure you what has come in has gone back to our community.
God has blessed us so much through this trial. God has been so good to us. As Job said, “shall we not receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” Does it not rain on the just and the unjust? How would we ever know how strong our faith is if that faith were never put to the test?
Helene and this winter have tested our faith. And I pray we have been found faithful in our test. God has used this storm to allow us to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ. Our children will live to tell the story of God’s amazing grace and strength through a difficult time in their lives. I am grateful for God allowing me to experience this difficult time and hopefully bring honor and glory to His name. He is worthy of all praise.
I would fail to mention all the people and pastors out there who helped us and are still helping us. I would not want to leave one person out. And many of these people and pastors are outside the readership of Blue Ridge Christian News. But I still want to say thank you for all your help and all you have done for all of us, not just Snow Hill but every act of kindness and support. God bless you. God has touched me through your generosity and kindness.
I have experienced many miraculous things over the past few months. As one man said,” I can see God in all this.” To God be the glory of great things He has done. Thank you so much for all you have done and are doing.
