Are You Wise

Howdy Friends,
Are You a Wise Person? The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” It’s very important to be smart in school and well-educated. When I was coming up they had what was known as Truant Officers. They would come by and check to see why you haven’t been in school. Well, the Truant officer came by to check on a 14-year-old boy who had been missing school a lot. He comes up and sees the boy sitting on the front porch smoking. He asked him where his dad was. He said, well he’s in jail, he got caught making moonshine. Well, where is your mom? Well, she ran off with Dad’s best friend who helps him make moonshine. He asked if there was anyone else living there. Ya, my sister. Where is she at? Well, she said, she and her boyfriend were going down to the river to go fishing. Is there anyone else? He said yep, my older brother. Where’s he at? Harvard, Truant officer said Harvard. You meant to tell me your dad was in jail for moonshine, your mom ran off with dad’s best friend, your sister went fishing, and your brother at Harvard. What’s he Studying at Harvard? Well, he ain’t studying anything Mr., they’re studying him.
My question to you is, Are You Wise? That is a question we all need to ask ourselves. I did not say to ask
yourself if you were a smart person, or successful person, or even a happy person, but are you a wise person? And better than that, what does God think about you? You can be a smart person, a successful person, and even be a happy person but that does not make you a wise person in the eyes of an Almighty God. Again the Bible is telling us that a wise person is winning souls for Christ.
We have to understand that a man’s soul is important! What is a soul worth? A soul is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And if we just look at God’s Word, we will see that Jesus Christ gave His life for you and me, so that we may have eternal Life with Him.
• A Soul is worth more than Wealth, The Bible says what shall a man profit if he gain the world and lose his soul.
• A Soul is more than Health, the Bible says that Life is a vapor, it will vanish away, just meaning, that life is short.
• A Soul is more than Pleasure. The Bible says: He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich. Wealth goes away, Health fades away, and Pleasure is short-lived.
Why is a Soul Worth so much? Because it is going to live Forever somewhere either Heaven or Hell. Why is a Soul so Important? Because of the command of the Lord. The Bible says Matt 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Let me tell you something, no one is Wise who Disobeys God’s Commands. Friends it doesn’t matter how faithful you are, how beautiful you sing, how much you give, or all the things you do in Christ’s name. If you’re not winning souls you’re not wise. The Bible Commands us to keep the Commands of God, and if we keep the Commands of God, and follow Him, the Bible makes it clear that He will make us fishers of man. So to put it simply as I can, if you not fishing for souls you are not wise in the eyes of God.
