Adam Christopher Sheafe, the man accused of killing 76-year-old Pastor William Schonemann of New River Bible Chapel, told Arizona Family he “crucified” the pastor and placed a crown of thorns on his head. Sheafe, 51, also confessed that he planned to kill a total of 14 pastors or priests across the country, claiming they were “leading their flocks astray.”
“Not only do I have zero remorse, if my father puts me in an authoritative position on this earth, I will execute every single priest and burn every single church to the ground,” Sheafe said in the recorded interview.

Sheafe is currently being held at the Coconino County Detention Center in Flagstaff. Charges against him include first-degree trespassing, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, second-degree burglary and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among others, according to Sedona Red Rock News.
He said he intentionally targeted pastors and priests while they were alone. “Had I had a vehicle, those two were done. They didn’t have a chance,” Sheafe said, referring to two pastors who escaped after a police chase.
Sheafe detailed his planned route for more attacks: “From there, it was Las Vegas, Nevada; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; Billings, Montana; Detroit, Michigan; New York, New York; Charlotte, North Carolina; Mobile, Alabama; Beaumont, Texas; and El Paso, Texas. So, four of them were going to get hit in Arizona.”
Capt. David Lee of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office previously stated that the targeting appeared to be “religious in nature.”

As reported by The Christian Post, Schonemann was found dead in his home on April 28 with signs of “foul play.” Fox 10 Phoenix reported the pastor was discovered with significant injuries, his arms stretched out and hands pinned to the wall, an apparent mimicry of crucifixion.
