Charlie Kirk Shot, Killed at Speaking Event in Utah

Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah State University early Wednesday afternoon. He was 31 years old.

The single bullet fired hit directly in the neck. Police are still looking for the suspect.

The shot rang out while Kirk was speaking about the rising trend of transgender shooters attacking innocent children and other victims.

Though a suspect was detained earlier in the evening, FBI Director Kash Patel announced at 6:59 p.m. that “The subject in custody has been released after an interrogation by law enforcement.” Patel noted that the FBI’s “investigation continues and we will continue to release information in interest of transparency.”

President Donald Trump released several remarks Wednesday, including a video statement paying tribute to Kirk. “I am filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk,” Trump said in the video posted to Truth Social.

“It’s long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree,” Trump said, “For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”

Headlines and social media posts about the shooting flew thick and fast for about an hour before word came that Kirk had passed away. He leaves behind a wife and two small children.

Intercessors for America offers this psalm:

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:14-16)

MSNBC Blames the Victim

Here’s MSNBC’s take on the shooting of a political figure who never advocated violence or hatred, but simply acted as a citizen with opinions:

Stream Publisher James Robison mourned the loss.

“We’ve lost one of the greatest champions for freedom in our day,” he said. “Charlie Kirk moved young people by the millions. He was as positive as any force for good in this country. Thank God for the impact he made, and let’s pray that it multiplies hundreds of times.

“Please pray for his precious wife, Erika, and their children in the aftermath of this horrific loss.”

President Donald Trump has ordered all Americans to fly their flags at half-mast until 6 p.m. Eastern time Sunday evening in Kirk’s honor.
