To us intercessors in America, polygamy may seem like an archaic practice. However, it’s becoming more and more common in our nation, to the point that just over one in five Americans now say it’s morally acceptable.

This figure was revealed by CNN analyst Harry Enten, who was discussing Pope Leo’s recent doctrinal note defending traditional marriage with host Erin Burnett.
From the Daily Wire:
“Polygamy, polyamory for a while were taboo, right?” Burnett asked. “There were certain places where it would happen in this country that people would think, you know, but it became something that wasn’t very common. Is it now more morally acceptable?”
“Building a trend line as to how many people are in a polyamorous relationship now versus 20 years ago is a little bit difficult,” Enten answered. “But we do know that the percentage who say it’s morally acceptable is up like a rocket. I mean, you compare it to 20 years ago, we were talking about just 6 percent. Look at it now, 21 percent say polygamy is morally acceptable. Now, that is a rise of more than three times. “
“One in five,” he continued. “And that is led by younger folks where that percentage is over 30 percent. “
As intercessors, we know that polygamy does not align with God’s perfect design for marriage. However, it appears that our culture, which has largely abandoned God and the truths of scripture, has adopted a different view on this sacred and holy union.
It is disheartening to see that young people are leading the charge to normalize and accept polygamy. Over the past few years, we have seen great changes in the youngest citizens of this nation, with Generation Z coming to Christianity at a shocking rate. However, this poll shows there’s a long way to go before our nation returns to the Lord.
