(LifeSiteNews) — Canada’s federal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney has pledged to spend a whopping $180 million of taxpayer money on a woke World Bank climate initiative to end reliance on oil and gas and address “gender equality gaps.”
Listed on Canada’s federal government’s grants and contributions website, the money was given to the World Bank through what is known as the “World Bank Clean Energy and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Resilience Facility (CESR).”
Dated March 13, 2026, the agreement ended on March 31; however, it listed funds given totaling $180 million to the “IBRD Trust Funds — World Bank.”
The money comes from the Global Affairs Canada’s International Development Assistance program, which says it gives money to “reducing poverty for those living in countries where [the organization] engages in international development.”
However, one of the goals of the grants is, in essence, to attack one of Canada’s main economic drivers, its oil and gas industry, and with it the province of Alberta.
The grant notes a goal to “accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels” by focusing on so-called renewable energy. Worryingly, the grant also states as a goal to support “efforts to address gender equality gaps in the energy and blue economy sectors.”
It’s no secret that the current Liberal government under Carney is fully on board with the woke “green” agenda. Indeed, Carney worked as the former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England and spent many years promoting green financial agendas.
The Liberal government’s attacks on oil and gas have impacted Alberta, whose oil reserves are some of the largest in the world. Indeed, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has said that “Over the last decade, Ottawa has imposed what we have called the ‘nine bad laws’ that have damaged Alberta’s economy and hurt Albertans and Canadians alike.”
Since taking power in 2015, then under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Liberal government has continued to push a radical environmental agenda like those being pushed by the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset” and the United Nations’ “Sustainable Development Goals.” Part of this push includes the promotion of so called “net zero” energy by as early as 2035 nationwide.
The reduction and eventual elimination of the use of so-called “fossil fuels” and a transition to unreliable “green” energy have also been pushed by the World Economic Forum (WEF) – the globalist group behind the socialist “Great Reset” agenda – an organization in which Trudeau and some of his cabinet are involved.
LifeSiteNews reported that a 2022 study found that electric vehicles pollute at a rate far higher than their gasoline or diesel-powered counterparts.
A June 2017 peer-reviewed study by two scientists and a veteran statistician confirmed that most of the recent global warming data have been “fabricated by climate scientists to make it look more frightening.”
