When Shannon Bream was interviewed about her book, Nothing is Impossible with God, she said that when she can’t sleep, she goes through the alphabet, thinking of someone whose name starts with each letter to pray for them. She joked that some nights she gets to the letter “Q” before falling asleep. What a blessing to everyone she lifts up in prayer in her own weakness. 

Author and speaker Pam Farrel says that while battling ovarian cancer, she surrounded herself with pictures of family and friends and prayed for them when she opened her eyes after catnaps, praying for each person as she fell in and out of sleep. 

Pray for doctors, caregivers, healthcare teams, and people who send cards, texts, calls, or bring meals.  To everyone offering to pray for you, ask how you can pray for them. It’s a blessing to be a blessing to those who are blessing you.

Dear Lord, I’m so in need of prayers that in my weakness, I often forget to pray for others. Forgive me, Lord. Remind me to show my gratitude by praying for each one, and bring those to my mind that are especially in need of prayer. Lord, I praise You for every person in my life stepping in to help me when I can’t help myself. Remind me they need You too. For those who don’t know You, maybe I can be a witness that even in my body’s weakness, my hope and faith are in You alone, Lord. Let each person see Jesus in me. Amen

Even in bed, on the couch, in a recliner or wheelchair, in pain, you’re always in God’s presence, and He’s only a prayer away. Keep praying, resting in His promises, trusting He sees you, loves you, and is working everything out for your good. Your body’s weakness isn’t unseen by God — He’ll use it to reveal His strength in you. Trust God to answer and trust His answer to be what is best in the situation.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. – Mark 11:24

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13
