Quebec woman who tried to poison Donald Trump sentenced to over 21 years in prison – LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — A Canadian woman who tried to poison former President Donald Trump has been punished with nearly 22 years in jail.

On August 17, U.S. District Court Judge Dabney L Friedrich sentenced Quebec resident Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier to 262 months, almost twenty-two years, for sending ricin-laced letters to then U.S. President Donald Trump and Texas officials in addition to various other biological weapons charges.

“The only regret I have is that it didn’t work and that I couldn’t stop Trump,” 55-year-old Ferrier told the court.

“I consider myself to be an activist, not a terrorist,” she said. “Activists are constructive, terrorists are destructive.”

Ferrier sent the letters in September 2020, just a couple months before the election. According to a press release from the United States Department of Justice, in early September 2020, Ferrier wrote on social media, asking someone to “please shoot [T]rump in the face.”

“I found a new name for you: ‘The Ugly Tyrant Clown’,” Ferrier wrote in her poison laced letter to Trump. “I made a Special Gift for you to make a decision. If it doesn’t work, I’ll find better recipe for another poison, or I might use my gun when I’ll be able to come. Enjoy! FREE REBEL SPIRIT.”

“You ruin USA and lead them to disaster,” she continued. “I have U.S. cousins, then I don’t want the next 4 years with you as President. Give up and remove your application for this election!”

The letters were sent from Canada to the United States but were intercepted before they reached the White House.

Ferrier also sent poison laced letters to eight Texas State law enforcement officials whom she thought were involved with her detainment in Texas for several weeks in 2019.

On September 20, 2020, Ferrier was stopped by border patrol officials attempting to cross from Canada into the United States via the Peace Bridge, which connects Buffalo, New York with Fort Eerie, Ontario.

Officials found her in possession of a loaded firearm, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and other weapons. Ferrier was then arrested and has remained in custody.

Ferrier pleaded guilty to the charges in January 2023 and admitted to making the poison herself at her home in Quebec. Ricin is a deadly poison made from waste material left over from processing castor beans. It is considered lethal at around 10 micrograms per kilogram of body weight and can cause death if inhaled.

In addition to being sentenced to nearly 22 years of imprisonment, Ferrier will serve a lifetime of supervised release.
