Prominent atheist Richard Dawkins banned on Facebook for 11 days after affirming biological reality – LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — The prominent atheist and biological scientist Richard Dawkins announced on August 2 that his Facebook account had been closed and deleted – without warning.

“Was it something I said?” he asked on X. Dawkins, a leading figure in the so-called “New Atheist” movement, had recently entered the fray over the inclusion of a non-biological “woman” in the recent Olympics in France.

Dawkins reported the removal of his account in a post on X, claiming Facebook and its parent company Meta had yet to supply a reason – or even respond to him over the matter.

Hosted following an obscene, blasphemous and regicidal ceremony designed by a homosexual, the Olympic welterweight women’s boxing event was marred by the inclusion of a competitor from Algeria, who, according to Dawkins, “carries a male chromosome and is therefore a biological male.”

The former professor for the Public Understanding of Science, Dawkins is no stranger to controversy. Weeks before the evidence-based remarks which appear to have prompted his removal from the social media platform, he asked, “Is it ever morally justifiable to lie/hide/deny certain scientific facts?”

Suspicion over Dawkins’ defense of biological reality fueled speculation that this was the reason for his removal from the typically censorious platform, said to have been founded to continue mass surveillance of the population without overt government and intelligence agency involvement.

Following online backlash denouncing the move as censorship, Meta’s Dani Lever gave another version of events – over a week after the disappearance of Dawkins’ page.

Lever – and Meta – supplied no reason as to why they “weren’t able to communicate this to the account holder more promptly.” Dawkins’ direct messages are open on X, for example. LifeSiteNews contacted him through this medium immediately, but he declined to comment on the story.

The account is now active again, having vanished for eleven days.

Meta’s Lever said Dawkins’ account was “locked” on July 30, which was – as some users on X noted – the same day on which Dawkins posted his evidence-based critique of the inclusion of an allegedly non-female boxer in the Olympic women’s event.

Dawkins’ offending post has now itself been deleted, as another user noted.

So where is the evidence this was all about the burning question of our modern times: what is a woman?

Dawkins himself made the charge in a now-deleted tweet, sent on August 2.

“My entire Facebook account has been deleted, seemingly (no reason given) because I tweeted that genetically male boxers such as Imane Khalif (XY undisputed) should not fight women in Olympics. Of course, my opinion is open to civilized argument. But outright censorship?”

Dawkins argues that the alleged presence of a Y chromosome in Algerian boxer Imane Khalif decides the pronouns. Women have a pair of two X chromosomes, men XY. This is a basic fact of human biology known to schoolchildren. It appears to have been sufficient to trigger the administration of Meta, as well as the removal of Richard Dawkins from the platform.

British Free Speech campaigner and founding leader of the Free Speech Union Toby Young said in response:

Richard Dawkins’ Facebook account has been deleted after he posted that genetically male boxers should not fight women. Could anything sum up more perfectly the dire state of free speech today?

Young noted the presence of a second boxer of questionable feminity, Lin Yiu-Ting, included in the women’s featherweight event.

A report in the Daily Sceptic, partnered with Young’s FSU, reported on the Facebook case, citing Dawkins’ now-deleted X post in support of the link to the “controversy” over non-biological females in women’s sports said to have led to the removal of his account.

Dawkins, who has not lost his sense of humor over the matter, went on to post this meme on August 8, whilst his account was still closed.

Dawkins has form in tackling the capture of culture by the redefinition of basic reality. In February 2023, he responded with “contemptuous ridicule” to a measure to ban from science words such as “male, female, man, woman, mother, father, alien, invasive, exotic and race.”

The measures, reported in the Daily Telegraph, were promoted towards “inclusion” in the discussion and conduct of scientific inquiry by the EBB Project, which has, according to the Telegraph, been “…compiling a repository of “problematic words” that have been identified by US and Canadian scientists as harmful and it suggests alternatives”.

Phrases such as “invasive species” and even “double blind” were recommended to be removed and replaced with euphemisms which would not constitute “microaggressions” – a form of colonial and discriminatory violence imagined by the differently-saned.

Dawkins responded in a defiant tone.

“I shall continue to use every one of the prohibited words. I am a professional user of the English language. It is my native language.”

Referring to the proverbial English scold Mrs. Grundy, he described the authors of the report as juvenile, censorious puritans:

I am not going to be told by some teenage version of Mrs Grundy which words of my native language I may or may not use.

The freedom to speak even true things, as Dawkins has discovered, is the exclusive domain of the Good People. If you are not one of them, you have no right to it – nor to anything else.

Having been made (briefly) faceless on Facebook, Dawkins may be minded to recall what has been lost in the transition of our culture from that of Christianity to a rights-based utopia policed by ideological purists.

The strident atheist announced himself a “cultural” Christian in March 2024, having found himself appalled at the so-called culture which has grown up in its absence.

While Dawkins still misunderstands Christianity, perhaps there is hope that he may be further radicalized by the Godless liberal reality we now inhabit, and go one step further and accept Christ and all His true teachings.
