Pakistani Man Arrested in Canada For Plotting a U.S. Terrorist Attack – American Faith

Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani living in Canada, has been arrested for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack on Jews in New York City.

The U.S. Justice Department stated that Khan planned to carry out a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on October 7, 2023, in support of ISIS.

“The defendant is alleged to have planned a terrorist attack in New York City around October 7 of this year with the stated goal of slaughtering, in the name of (the Islamic State), as many Jewish people as possible,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.

“Thanks to the investigative work of the FBI, and the quick action of our Canadian law enforcement partners, the defendant was taken into custody,” he said.

He revealed his intentions during conversations with undercover law enforcement officers. Canadian authorities arrested Khan near the U.S.-Canada border, and the U.S. is seeking his extradition.

Khan faces charges of supporting a foreign terrorist organization, with a possible 20-year prison sentence if convicted.
