(LifeSiteNews) — Some of you may recall the debate in Scotland over “self-identification,” a policy championed by Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon that likely ended her career. Critics of “self-ID,” which would permit people to change their gender simply by declaring that they were something other than their sex, pointed out that this policy had many horrific but predictable consequences, such as male criminals deciding to identify as female in order to get locked up with ladies. Sturgeon refused to budge and ended up resigning in large part due to the transgender issue.
Another case has surfaced in Scotland that reveals, once again, how correct Sturgeon’s critics were and how insane gender ideology has rendered everyone it touches. According to Reduxx (warning—graphic descriptions of sexual assault), an independent media outlet tracking the impact of transgender policies:
A man who began identifying as non-binary after a previous conviction for sexual assault has been spared jail despite being found guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing a teenager. Oliver James Bond, previously known as Lucas Cole, was found guilty at Perth Sheriff Court for charges related to sustained sex attacks and grooming a minor over the course of six years. The abuses began in 2010 when the minor was just 15 years old. Bond, who would have been 20 at the time, befriended the teen and the two began spending time together. While at a house in Milnathort, Bond sexually attacked the boy while he was sleeping. The youth awoke to Bond’s [genitals] in his mouth.
Bond would assault the boy two more times over the course of the next six years, once in Kinross between September 5, 2013, and September 4, 2014, and once between September 5, 2013, and September 4, 2014. In the second attack, Bond repeatedly grabbed the teenager’s genitals, overpowering him and pulling down his pants before performing a sex act on him. In the third, Cole again began assaulting the victim while he was asleep. Bond told the court that he believed his relationship with the boy had been one of “friends with benefits,” but he was found guilty on all charges after the jury deliberated for only one hour.
But Bond’s status as “non-binary”—a fictitious category that nobody can explain—apparently bestowed him with significant privilege. During trial, the sexual predator was consistently referred to by his new, preferred name—Oliver James Bond—and by the plural pronouns “they/them.” As Reduxx noted, Bond’s decision to identify as non-binary came after his 2018 sexual abuse conviction after he assaulted a sleeping victim. He received no jail time for that conviction, and instead was sentenced to 200 hours of community service. Sheriff David Hall stated: “With some hesitation I am going to allow you to remain at liberty. You were convicted by the jury of all three charges.”
Bond will be put on the sex offenders register for five years and have a curfew for six months. Despite recognition from the court that he is dangerous, he is for some reason being set free. Why?
This could be yet another case of weak justice being served by Western courts. It is easy to find outrageously soft sentences handed out to sexual predators. But this may also be a case of “transgender privilege,” in which people who choose to identify as a gender or sexual minority seem to escape being held to the standard that others would be held to. Why are male sexual predators who identify as women getting sent to women’s prisons? Why is a man guilty of abusing teenage boys allowed to walk free, without jail time, after multiple convictions? And why does this seem to be happening so often?
