Elections Canada slammed for flying LGBT ‘pride’ flag at national headquarters – LifeSite

OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — Canadians are condemning Elections Canada for flying an LGBT “pride” flag from its official office for the first time in Canadian history.

On August 22, Elections Canada, the allegedly impartial agency responsible for administering Canadian federal elections, announced they are flying the gay “pride” flag from their national office in downtown Ottawa, causing Canadians to question where the organization’s loyalties lie.

“For the first time, Elections Canada will be flying the #Pride flag at our National Capital Region Headquarters to mark Public Service #PrideWeek!” Elections Canada wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “We’re proud to support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in all that we do.”

Jack Fonseca of Campaign Life Coalition condemned the organization for flying the flag, writing, “So much for being a non-partisan agency! Can we really trust Elections Canada to not be biased against, let’s say parties or candidates who oppose LGBT Pride ideology?”

“Might Elections Canada put its finger on the scale to favor parties & candidates that support its Pride stance?” he questioned.

“Elections Canada is supposed to be the epitome of an un-biased, non-political agency,” Fonseca told LifeSiteNews. “It should be taking great care to avoid any hint of bias, but its credibility is now shot with this highly politicized action which ties it directly to the ideology of Justin Trudeau’s Liberal regime.”

Fonseca pointed out that the “pride” flag “has practically become the unofficial banner of the Liberal Party of Canada and its Leader,” with the Liberal party making it their logo on X.

Notably, Elections Canada limited comments on their post to those whom they mentioned. Despite this, many Canadians are reposting the announcement and calling out the organization for their support of the LGBT agenda while also presenting themselves as a neutral party.

Canadian phycologist Dr. Jordan Peterson questioned, “When did Canada become Prideland? Perhaps it was when we elected a narcissistic actor as Prime Minister?”

Pro-family organization Blueprint for Canada told Elections Canada to “Take it down. The Progress flag is a blatant political symbol representing far left political extremism including gender ideology, critical race theory, and intersectional feminism.”

“It should never be flown from any public building and certainly not from Elections Canada,” the organization declared.

Others pointed out that flying the flag destroyed any confidence Canadians had left in Elections Canada.

“Are you trying to influence us to vote for LBGT candidates? Posts like this erode all confidence in public institutions,” one user commented.

“This seems totally inappropriate,” another Canadian pointed out. “The ‘progress’ flag symbolizes ideas about race and gender that are highly contested and associated primarily with certain political parties. How are we supposed to trust Elections Canada if it’s taking sides in major political debates?”

Fonseca pointed out that Elections Canada seems particularly biased when it comes to conservative and pro-family organizations.

“I have to observe that Elections Canada weaponized Third Party Election Advertising rules quite aggressively to come after socially conservative leaning organizations like Campaign Life Coalition, Right Now, and Rebel News, while not lifting a finger to go after interference in Canada’s elections by the Chinese Communist Party state dictatorship,” he stated.

Over the past two years, alleged meddling in Canada’s federal elections by agents of the Communist Chinese Party (CCP) has many Canadians concerned, especially considering Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s past praise for China’s “basic dictatorship” and his labeling of the authoritarian nation as his favorite country other than his own.

Fonseca commented that, “it’s highly suspicious that Elections Canada took no action whatsoever against election interference by a foreign power that was working to help Justin Trudeau win elections, but had lots of time, and a laser-like focus, on suppressing political participation by Canadians who opposed Liberal Party policies. Just a coincidence?”

“By flying the LGBT Pride flag, Elections Canada is just painting a better picture of an agency that is biased in favor of the Trudeau Liberals,” he warned.
